An Urartian bronze ladle and offering bowl
Circa 9th-7th Century B.C.
The deep bowl with an incised band of upturned lotus flowers and buds below the small dotted rim, funnel and sieve on the upper right side, the long handle moulded with two medallions with incised central rosettes surrounded by bands of floral decoration and tongues, a pair of confronting griffins in between, terminating in a pair of duck's heads, their feathers indicated, bands of incised tongues and geometric decoration below, the outer edge dotted, the concave reverse of the medallions with central rosettes, together with a matching small hemispherical bowl, 34.3cm and 5.1cm high respectively (2)
