A large Japanese export silver 'Dragon' box and cover

Meiji Period
The lid with a writhing dragon with long whiskers and scaled skin, one of its three-clawed talons grasping a pearl, with further dragons to the box sides, another pearl forming the keyhole cartouche, all reserved on a chased wave ground, fitted with a rosewood interior. 42cm (16 1/2in) wide
