Footnotes
歐米茄,「Flightmaster」154.013型號,精鋼計時手動上弦鏈帶腕錶,配內跳轉錶圈及兩地時間顯示,約1969年。
In 1969, Omega introduced the "Flightmaster" specially designed for use by long-haul pilots. "Tool watches" and especially chronographs defined the 1970s, when watches were called upon to perform specific tasks, such as assist with the measurement of time during diving, racing, and flight. The "Flightmaster" incorporated a chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour recorders, twenty-four-hour indication and an independently adjustable second time-zone hand shaped like a jet. The first generation "Flightmaster", Ref. 145.013 (Lot 1225) came with two different hand variations, the first with orange hands for amateur pilots and travellers and the second with cadmium-coated yellow hands for professional pilots. The first generation "Flightmaster", Ref. 345.801, was also available in 18k yellow gold and was produced in 200 examples. The first gold "Flightmaster" watch was reportedly delivered to King Hussein of Jordan, as one of the heaviest watches ever produced, weighing over 250 grams / 0.5 lbs.
2019 is the 50th anniversary of the Omega "Flightmaster" and it is fortuitous to come across two superb and well-preserved examples in the Centennial collection.
