JIMMY CARTER'S HOME TOWN.

Lithographic print signed ("Jimmy Carter" and "Rosalynn Carter"), 235 x 470 mm, depicting the main street in Carter's home town of Plains, GA, 1976, with "Drawn at the request of Rosalynn Carter" and the artist's initials "C.W.P. and copyright date at lower right border, signed and inscribed in the lower right margin "Best Wishes, Jimmy Carter — Rosalynn Carter." Matted and framed. Light browning around edges of mat.

These prints were made as appreciation gifts for members of Carter's staff after the 1976 election. Rather than picture the White House, where Jimmy and Rosalynn would take up residence for the following four years, it shows the streets of Plains, Georgia, with a sign painted above the storefronts reading Plains, Georgia, Home of Jimmy Carter, Our ... President. The blank between "Our" and "President" had contained the word "Next," but in this image the word has been painted out in celebration of his victory in the election.
