A 37-STAR PARADE FLAG.

In silk, with printed colors, 400 x 580 mm, c.1870, folded, with material thinning at creases, a few stains.

A RARE CONTEMPORARY 37-STAR PARADE FLAG, in use for only 10 years beginning in 1867. The 37-star flag flew over only three Presidents: Andrew Johnson (1865-1869), Ulysses S. Grant (1869-1877), and Rutherford B. Hayes (1877-1881).
