JACQUELINE KENNEDY'S NAUTICAL-THEMED ORNAMENTAL BOX.

A small wooden gift box covered in marbled paper, glass-topped shadowbox lid with painted seashore bordered with silver scallop design, aqua painted seahorse and seashells, miniature starfish, brass know stands, housing green wooden tray case, with two decks of playing cards, one an equestrian design, 6 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches, minor wear.
Provenance: Jacqueline Kennedy; gifted to Kennedy's personal secretary Mary Gallagher (letter enclosed); sold Camelot: 50 Years After Dallas, RR Auction, Boston, October 24, 2013, lot 34.

President Kennedy enjoyed giving Jackie nautical-themed gifts and she him. Upon taking the Oval Office Kennedy decorated with a few pieces of scrimshaw, giving the room a subtle nautical feel. This gift box owned and used by Jackie was likely a gift from the President.
