DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER'S RIGHT SHOE.

Men's right black leather slip-on Venetian loafer, custom made (hence without size designation), plain toe, low rubber-capped heel, 300 mm in length, with gilt printing on insole: Made Expressly for Dwight D. Eisenhower, together with wood and Plexiglas display base. Worn, with gilt stamping on insole faded.

"Don't let this happen to you! Vote for Ike!" Eisenhower's 1952 campaign struck gold when his opponent Adlai Stevenson was photographed on the campaign trail with a hole in the bottom of his shoe. Eisenhower quickly turned it into a slogan on buttons and bumperstickers questioning Stevenson's ability to care for a country, when he couldn't even take care of his shoes. The stamping in the bottom of Ike's right shoe (without hole) is similar to other known examples from both Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower.
