TRUMAN, HARRY. 1884-1972.

Dinner menu signed ("Harry Truman"), from the President's train trip from Washington, D.C. to Seattle, September 28, 1952, on the Great Northern Railway, 260 x 185 mm, bound with silk cord, printed card wrappers, signed on the front wrapper.

Truman arrived in Seattle on October 2, 1952, completing an old-fashioned campaign trip by train across the continent. He was technically on the campaign trail, as he was still eligible for another term of office, but his popularity was waning, and after the New Hampshire primary, he announced that he would not seek another term. The Democratic nomination would go to Adlai Stevenson, who would lose to Eisenhower in the election.
