PRESIDENTIAL CHRISTMAS GIFTS.

Washington: 1961-1990. A collection of 12 Presidential Christmas gifts from Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Reagan and Bush, given to a selected group of friends and to their staff in the White House. The collection comprises:
1) President Kennedy, Christmas gift for 1961, a White House photograph auto-signed by JFK and Jackie.
2) President Johnson, Christmas gift for 1965, a color print of the White House in winter.
3) President Nixon, 5 Christmas gifts for 1969-1973, each comprising a double-page presentation with a colored Presidential portrait taken from the White House collection, and accompanying text often printed in gold.
4) President Ford, Christmas gift for 1974.
5) President Reagan, 3 Christmas gifts for 1985, 1986, 1988, each in its original white card folder.
6) President Bush, Christmas gift for 1990, in its original red folder; all framed and glazed, a few frames rubbed.

A fine collection of some of Preston Bruce's annual Presidential Christmas gifts. The idea of the Christmas gift in this form seems to have originated with President Eisenhower, and reached a zenith of quality under Nixon.
