OFFICIAL ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMS FOR THE NIXON ADMINISTRATION.

Washington: 1969-74. A collection of 88 Official Entertainment Programs for Musical Events at the White House during the Nixon Administration, including some duplicates, most with the Presidential Seal on the upper cover, many with cotton-tasseled cords, some with an inserted leaf giving Instructions for the greeting party at the White House door.

Nixon was particularly excited by the events that were held at the White House, and during his administration he welcomed many Heads of State and Royalty, including Haile Selassie, Harold Wilson and Edward Heath, Prime Ministers of the UK, Willy Brandt of Germany, President Suharto of Indonesia, Ceausescu of Romania, President Bhutto of Pakistan, Golda Meir of Israel, Indira Gandhi, Prince Juan Carlos of Spain, the Shah of Iran, and many others. The world queued up for an invitation to a US state visit, and the banquet in the White House was often, alongside the parade through DC, the pinnacle of the visit. Nixon was very clever with his choice of American entertainers for his visiting dignitaries.
