WHITE HOUSE MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT DURING THE NIXON PRESIDENCY.

Washington: Recorded by the the White House Communications Agency, 1969-1973. A collection of 20 reel to reel tapes of 18 different musical concerts performed in the White House for visiting Heads of State, each 7 inch diameter spools, 14 in official labeled boxes, with the date of the recording and the artist, 6 unmarked and unboxed. A few boxes slightly bumped.

A fascinating collection of White House recordings from the Nixon era, some specially marked for the office of Preston Bruce. The highlights include a series of three tapes as a Tribute to Duke Ellington, on April 29th 1969, as well as Johnny Mathis (June 1973), Merle Haggard (March 1973), Sammy Davis Jr. (March 1973), and Frank Sinatra (April 1973). Among the Heads of State entertained were King Hussein of Jordan, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, and Prime Ministers Andreotti of Italy and Edward Heath, of the United Kingdom.
