A LYNDON JOHNSON PHOTOGRAPH INSCRIBED TO JAMES ROOSEVELT.

Photograph Signed and Inscribed ("Lyndon B. Johnson"), gelatin silver print, 7 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches laid down to larger mount, of LBJ at desk, inscribed at the lower mount, "With warm good wishes to Jimmy and Irene Roosevelt," very mild fading to inscription, lower corners of mount bumped.
Provenance: Estate of James Roosevelt, sold Bonhams Fine Books & Manuscripts, June 28, 2004, lot 9194.

LBJ inscribes this handsome photograph to FDR's son James, who after serving as a Brigadier General in World War II, was elected Congressman for California's 26th district from 1955-65. He resigned his seat in 1965 when Johnson appointed him as a delegate to UNESCO, which may be when this photograph was presented.
