A THEODORE ROOSEVELT CERAMIC PORTRAIT.

Portait image on ceramic tile, 2121 x 140 mm, marked on reverse "Portrait of ex-President Theodore Roosevelt / Geo. Cartlidge Sculpt. /1916 / made by J. H. Barratt & Co. Ltd. Stoke on Trent." Framed.

A FINE CERAMIC PORTRAIT FROM A PHOTOGRAPH, most likely made before Roosevelt turned down the Progressive Party nomination for President in 1916. The image was molded in relief from a photograph, and a mold created in lead, then cast with slight variations in the level of the mold creating the image with a near holographic effect.
