TIPPECANOE AND TYLER, ALTERNATIVES. 1840.

Two campaign pennants in blue cotton fabric, with orange embroidered lettering "North, Bend, Farmer" on one banner and "Old, Virginia, Never, Tire" on the other banner crudely cut to approximately 229 x 356 mm each, with wooden shafts, shadowbox mounted and framed.

The "North Bend Farmer" is a reference to Harrison, and "Old Virginia" referred to his running mate, John Tyler. Harrison had the misfortune of being the shortest-running President in U.S. history, succumbing to typhoid fever 31 days into his presidency. Tyler became the first Vice President to step into the presidency by succession.
