An Aretha Franklin Signed 4-page Contract For Her Appearance on the Music-Variety Show The Midnight Special

Signed ("Aretha Franklin") in green ball-point pen , 4 pp, 8vo, for Franklin to appear on the show, with an addendum authorizing Crown Productions to act on her behalf, the first two pages on typing paper, the last two on onionskin. "The Midnight Special" was a Pop Rock variety music series that ran from 1972-1981.

In the late 1950s, Aretha Franklin began her career as a child gospel singer at her dad's church in Detroit, Michigan. By the end of the 1960s, she earned the name "The Queen of Soul" having produced such hit songs as "Respect," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)," "Think," and " I Say a Little Prayer", just to name a few. She was the first female performer to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1987), was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and was ranked by Rolling Stone magazine as the No. 1 singer of all time. She died on August 16, 2018.
