The Original US Prince The Black Album Vinyl LP

December 1987, Warner Bros. Records, unopened and sealed, black sleeve with label on cover in pink "EXPLICIT LYRICS PARENTAL ADVISORY (1-25677)."

The Black Album, also known as The Funk Bible, had intended to be released on December 8, 1987, a black sleeve with no printed title, song credits, or artist name. A week before the album was to be released, Prince had a premonition, sometimes described as a spiritual epiphany, that the album was cursed and that all 500,000 copies should be destroyed. 100 European copies remained in circulation, along with a small number of US copies that had been gifted to friends such as Madonna, Miles Davis, Sheena Easton and others. There are 6 known to exist with collectors, making this one of the rarest records in the world.
Warner Bros. Records finally released the album in November 22, 1994 in limited editions, without "When 2R in Love," which had been released in 1988 on Lovesexy).
