A black lacquer four-case inro

By Koma Ryusei, 19th century
Of wide form, the black lacquer ground embellished with usu-nashiji, lacquered with a snake emerging from a tree, in gold hiramakie and sabiji-nuri, above a rushing stream in gold togidashi, glaring menacingly at a toad inlaid in tortoise-shell shown on the reverse crouched beneath e-nashiji clouds, the interior of nashiji, signed Koma Ryusei with kao; with cloisonné enamel ojime, unsigned.
