A Staffordshire saltglaze coffee pot and cover, circa 1765

Of baluster form with a plain strap handle and an elaborate moulded spout, enamelled in colours including bright turquoise with a flautist in a rural landscape, the reverse with a woman carrying a basket on her head, the cover with flowers, the scroll and diaper borders washed in puce and green, 23.9cm high (2)

A saltglaze teapot enamelled with similar flowers and the same distinctive border, was in the Tom Walford Collection sold by Bonhams on 18 December 2018, lot 49. A creamware coffee pot with a similar border was lot 49 in the Walford sale. A saltglaze coffee pot of the same form, also with the figure of a flautist, was in the Herbert and Sylvia Jacobs Collection
