A New England Glass Co. magnum fruit and floral arrangement or floral sheath paperweight, circa 1860

Containing an elongated upright bouquet incorporating fruit as well as flowers, set with two large poinsettia-type flowers, one in red, the other blue, placed among pointed leaves flanked by two partly-open flowers in white and purple, two pears shaded in yellow and red, and two small red cherries, a closed yellow bud at the tip of the bouquet, a fan of six pointed leaves at the opposite end, set on a filigree cushion of white latticinio, 9.4cm diam, 6.9cm high

Writing in 2009, Paul Dunlop described these floral arrangements as the most spectacular weights from the New England Glass Co. with only fifteen or so examples recorded. A very small number of these three dimensional weights also include fruit within the floral sheaf. A very similar example, with the red and blue flowers reversed, is illustrated by Hollister and Lanmon, 'Flowers which Clothe the Meadows' (1978), p.93, fig.255

Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
