A Meissen deep plate, circa 1735

After a Chinese pattern, painted in underglaze-blue, enamels and gilding with two insects amidst flowering branches within blue concentric circles, the rim with an iron-red and gilt band of stylised foliate cells reserved with lobed panels painted with a flowering branch and smaller lobed panels with flowerheads, the reverse with two flowering branches, 21.8cm diam., crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, II in underglaze-blue inside footrim, Dreher's mark probably for Johann Christoph Pietzsch (very minor stacking wear)
