A Meissen teapot and cover, circa 1730

With a curved spout with mask terminal and loop handle, each side painted with a Kauffahrtei scene of figures at a quayside within a gilt scrollwork cartouche filled with Böttger lustre and edged with iron-red scrollwork, flanked by branches of indianische Blumen, a strapwork border around the rim, the cover with a continuous Kauffahrtei scene and a gilt rim, 11.8cm high, crossed swords mark in blue enamel, gilt 70. (minute spots of gilt retouching to tip of spout and edge of finial) (2)
