A Sèvres pierced blue-ground coupe and cover, circa 1853

The sides painted with cameo medallions depicting profiles of Dante, Rossini and Raphael alternating with moulded putti with symbols of the Arts, flanked by pierced foliate scrollwork panels heightened in gilding, the stem moulded with masks and scrolling foliate motifs and borders, the pierced cover mounted by a kneeling putto, the interior of coupe and cover decorated with gilt scrolling foliate patterns, 28.8cm high, 24.5cm diam., stencilled eagle and S.53 mark in red, stencilled S.52 in green, incised mark (2)
