A Sèvres hard-paste déjeuner, circa 1788

Decorated with a pale blue ground reserved with gilt-edged panels enclosing loose flower bouquets surrounded by floral garlands, rich foliate borders to the rims, comprising: a tray (plateau 'losange' of the first size), a teapot and cover (théière 'calabre'), a sugar bowl and cover (pot à sucre 'Bouret'), a milk jug (pot à lait 'à trois pieds') and a cup and saucer (gobelet 'litron' et soucoupe), the tray: 35.5cm across handles, crowned interlaced LL monograms in blue and iron-red, gilder's marks for Jean Chauvaux (le jeune) and unidentified painter's mark B, incised marks (sugar bowl cover restuck, two haircracks to teapot) (8)
