Provenance:
European Private Collection

There are two services in the sale records of 1792 that correspond to this pattern, described as festons bleu. One was purchased by the Parisian marchand mercier, Madame Lefebure, in June of that year. The other was bought by Jean-Frédéric Perregaux as an intermediary for M Gordon. See David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century (2005), IV, pp. 965f and 977f, for a full discussion of these services. Another plate is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, inv. no. 1338-1919.
