The modeller Heinrich Schwabe (1847-1924) was born in Wiesbaden and studied sculpture at the Kunstgewerbeschule [School for Applied Arts] in Nuremberg, where he later became a professor. By 1899, the Meissen factory had bought 48 of his models, mostly busts and putti.
