A Sèvres hard-paste cup and saucer, circa 1785 and 1794

Gobelet 'litron' et soucoupe of the second size, painted with a wide gold-ground border of polychrome arabesque decoration with mask medallions alternating with colourful birds flanking a flower pot, all above a white-ground band of colourful scrollwork and a puce band with with purple foliate scrollwork, the rims gilt, interlaced LL monogram enclosing date letter hh on cup, Sèvres RF mark on saucer, painter's marks for Nicolas Sinsson and gilder's marks for A.-J. La France to both, incised marks (restuck chip to cup rim with associated retouching to gilding) (2)
