A very rare Dutch-decorated early Meissen faceted bowl and cover, circa 1720-30

The fourteen-sided bowl and cover decorated in Holland with continuous scenes in Chinese style depicting chinoiserie figures and rabbits in partially wooded landscapes, the cover painted in the inside with a flower. with a moulded dome surmounted by an octagonal finial, all embellished in polychrome enamels, an iron-red foliate border around the footrim, 15cm high (very small piece restuck to tip of finial with associated tiny chip) (2)

A polished Böttger stoneware bowl and cover of the exact same shape is in the Grassi Museum, Leipzig (published by Claus Boltz, Steinzeug und Porzellan der Böttgerperiode, in Keramos 167/168 (2000), ills. 173-174, and by D. Gielke, Meissener Porzellan des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts (2003), no. 4). A related fourteen-sided bowl and cover with additional moulded fluting, decorated in the Funcke workshop with gilding and enamels, is in the Dresden porcelain collection; see I.
