Inscribed to the rear 'Leech', stamped '1/12' and 'DAF 88' raised on a square marble base 32cm wide, 29cm deep, 49cm high (12 1/2in wide, 11in deep, 19in high)

Provenance
A gift from the artist to his friend Alan Denson and subsequently from Denson to the vendor. Denson was a poet and art historian who wrote 'An Irish Artist, W. J. Leech R.H.A. 1881 - 1968', published by Kendal in 1968. A version of the bust is illustrated on page 16.

The Dublin Art Foundry cast a limited edition of twelve of which this example is number one. The original plaster head was presented to the National Gallery of Ireland by the Gorry Gallery
