Footnotes

Provenance
St. Gregory's Church, Seaton, Devon

The initials 'WK' almost certainly refer to William Keate, the rector of St. Gregory's Church between 1710 and 1757. The remaining sets of initials probably belong to his contemporary churchwardens.

Full Description: On a splayed and reeded footrim, the double-dome lid with a 'pagoda' finial, a chairback thumbpiece, and double-scroll handle with hooded-ball finial, touchmark near rim, probably of William Newham, London/Nottingham [fl. 1708-1728], [PS5020, PS6729, OP3373], the drum stamped 'SEATON' over pairs of initials 'WK' 'IH' TC' over the date '1726', 72.1 fl.oz.,
