Hongxian four-character mark, Republic Period
The small globular vessel enamelled with the infamous Tang poet asleep, resting against a presumably empty wine pot, with an inverted mouth rim.

Provenance: Collection of J.P Reeves OBE, and thence by descent.

J.P. Reeves was a member of the British diplomatic corps and was stationed in the Far East from 1933 until 1950. He started his career in Beijing and finished as consul in Macao.
