An Anatolian bronze wagon model with oxen
Circa late 3rd-early 2nd Millennium B.C.
The chariot with four large flat disc wheels, the rectangular cart with wire balustrades and a long shaft connected to the yokes of the two oxen, the animals with elongated bodies, long curving horns, wide muzzles and incised eyes, approx. 49cm long

The present lot is very close to an example in the Dallas Museum of Art, acc. no. 1972.38.A-D; see also D. von Bothmer, Glories of the Past; Ancient Art from the Shelby White and Leon Levy Collection, New York, 1990, p.31, no. 18 for a wagon model with similarly modelled oxen.
