An engraved .44 (R.F.) 'Henry Model 1860' lever-action rifle by New Haven Arms Company, no. 10852 (circa 1865)
Fourth variation, the brass receiver with bold foliate-scrollwork on a stippled ground, the left side-plate engraved depicting a leaping stag in natural surroundings, the right side-plate with vacant banner, some ornate borderwork, some traces of silver finish, almost certainly the work of L.D. Nimschke or his workshop, the lower tang stamped "H" to signify that the receiver was inspected by B. Tyler Henry, serial number "10852" found on top flat of barrel just ahead of receiver, on the toe of the buttplate, on the stock under the upper tang and on the left side of the lower tang under the stock, the figured stock with brass butt-plate engraved en suite and trap (with 4-piece cleaning rod), sling-swivel and eye, 'Henry Bump', the barrel engraved Henry's Patent Oct 16 1860 Manufactured by the New Haven Arms Co. New Haven. CT with integral full-length magazine-tube, muzzle sleeve, fixed blade foresight insert to muzzle retaining band and folding staff rear-sight graduated to 900 yards
