A fine and rare Ulrich signed and engraved .44-40 'Model 1873' lever-action saddle-ring carbine by Winchester, no. 93927A (dated 1882)
The 'Third Model' receiver with dust-cover and integral rail, the right hand side engraved with bugling elk, the left with brown bear, both in their natural surroundings and with bold foliate-scrollwork, with much nickel finish, signed J. Ulrich behind the trigger, left side of lower tang stamped with the assembly number "4338", "XXX" and "C", matching assembly number is found in the top tang channel of buttstock and inside of butt-plate, the well-figured stock with nickel-plated butt-plate and trap (with 3-piece cleaning rod), staple and ring, sling swivels, bright nickel-plated round barrel engraved Winchester's-Repeating-Arms. New Haven. CT. King's-Improvement-Patented-March 29.1866.October 16.1860. with full-length magazine-tube, fixed blade front-sight and reverse-mounted carbine-ladder rear-sight stamped '1873'
