A deluxe engraved .44-40 'Model 1873' lever-action rifle by Winchester, no. 13255 (dated 1875)
The 'First Model' receiver with dust-cover, engraved with bold foliate-scrollwork on a stippled background, the left side of lower tang stamped with assembly number "1073", indistinct number is found in the top tang channel of buttstock, inside toe of butt-plate stamped with "387", set trigger, the highly-figured chequered stock (minor crack left side of action, chipped at toe) with steel butt-plate with trap , the chequered forend (chipped) with steel cap engraved en suite, the octagonal barrel engraved Winchester's-Repeating Arms. New Haven. CT. King's-Improvement-Patented-March 29. 1866. October 16. 1860. with full-length magazine-tube, nickel-blade foresight and semi-buckhorn rear-sight with adjustable centre insert and chequered hand grips
