A deluxe .32 (W.C.F.) 'Model 1873' lever action-rifle by Winchester, no. 236793 (dated 1887)
Customised and restored, the 'Third Model' receiver with dust-cover and integral rail, with later bold foliate scrollwork on a stippled ground, the elevator engraved ".32 Cal" with cross on stippled ground, much renewed hardening-colour, the top tang mounted with rare 62-B folding peep-sight, the highly-figured and chequered stock with pistolgrip, with ebony insert and brass Swiss-butt, left side of lower tang is stamped with assembly number "230", "XX" and "32 SB", matching assembly number is found in the top tang channel of buttstock, rear of butt-plate also has matching assembly number, the octagonal barrel engraved Winchesters Repeating Arms Newhaven Conn. U.S.A. -King's Improvement Patented March 29 1866. October 16 1860- with full-length magazine tube, with Beach's combination foresight and semi-buckhorn rear sight with adjustable centre insert
