The receiver retaining full re-blued finish, later engraved with bold foliate-scrollwork on a stippled background with gold inlaid borders, the right side with a vignette of rabbits in farmland, the left side with a vignette of squirrels in a tree signed Engr. L-Sherman in front of the lever, engraved en suite, the top tang drilled and tapped for a sight and stamped Trade Mark -Winchester- Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. & FGN, the chequered highly-figured replacement stock with pistolgrip, wood pistolgrip-cap, carved depicting oak leaves and acorns, cheek-piece, shotgun-butt with partial shotgun butt-plate, the highly-figured chequered replacement forend carved en suite with wooden cap and mount for sling eye, the re-blued round barrel stamped Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. New Haven. Conn. U.S.S. Patented October 7. 1879., with gold inlaid barrel bands and bold foliate-scrollwork engraving at muzzle and breech ends, with ramp-mounted fixed blade foresight
