A Scottish 25-Bore Flintlock All-Metal Belt Pistol
By John Murdoch Of Doune, Late 18th Century

With four-stage brass barrel, octagonal at the slightly flared muzzle and faceted at the breech, the flats alternately engraved with designs of foliage and dog-tooth borders, the mid-section engraved with symmetrical scrolling foliage, slightly raised notched back-sight, signed border engraved flat bevelled brass lock engraved with scrolling foliage at the rear, brass three-quarter stock engraved with line ornament and scrolling foliage, the underside set with three foliate engraved silver panels, the rounded pommel with concentric circles forming flower-heads between silver-inlaid flower-heads, and with a small circular silver terminal, vacant silver escutcheon, silver button trigger (loose) engraved as a flower-head, slender steel belt hook, and later steel ramrod (some wear overall)
