A 50-Bore Percussion All-Metal Saw-Handled Pistol
Mid-19th Century

With two-stage browned twist sighted barrel octagonal at the breech and becoming polygonal (browning worn, some surface rust on one side at the muzzle), breech with three white-metal lines and foliate engraved plug, border engraved rounded back-action lock decorated with flowering scrolling foliage, dolphin hammer en suite, white-metal half-stock decorated en suite with the lock and inhabited by an American eagle opposite the lock, flat ovoidal pommel with hinged circular steel butt-trap cover engraved with a grotesque mask, border engraved spur trigger-guard decorated with foliate scrollwork on the bow, white-metal under rib, and stirrup ramrod (some pitting) engraved with a flower-head on the tip, Birmingham proof marks
