A Highland 40-Bore Percussion All-Metal Belt Pistol
Signed Campbell, Mid-19th Century

With three-stage barrel retaining traces of original blueing and engraved around the polygonal muzzle, polygonal breech engraved with foliate scrollwork along the top flat, and mid-section engraved with a Union martial trophy surmounted by a tam o'shanter, signed border engraved flat lock decorated with scrolling foliage, dolphin hammer engraved with foliage involving a thistle, white-metal three-quarter stock engraved with scrolling foliage and with a line of guilloche along the top of the fore-end on both sides, the ram's horn butt with thistles in an oval on one side and a faceted imitation cairngorn on the other in an ovoidal silver setting cast and chased with foliage, the back of the butt with a vacant oval, button trigger, steel belt hook, and original steel ramrod engraved with a flower-head on the tip (pricker replaced), Birmingham proof marks
