With blued octagonal sighted barrel, blued border engraved top-strap signed in full, russet cylinder with knurled forward edge, blued border engraved frame stamped 'Mand (sic) For Hyde & Goodrich Agents N.O.' on one side and 'C.S.A.' on the other, border engraved trigger-guard and butt-cap, safety-stop, patent rammer, chequered figured rounded butt, and retaining much of its original finish (some wear and bruising), London proof marks

Footnotes

Hyde & Goodrich are recorded in New Orleans between 1853 and 1861. They appear to have acted as Tranter's American agents and supplied arms to the Confederate States army
