A Brass-Barrelled Flintlock Blunderbuss
By J. Kilmister, London, Late 18th Century

With plain barrel flared at the muzzle and signed along the breech, the latter with three breech flats engraved with borders of beadwork, border engraved tang decorated with rocailles and foliage, flat bevelled lock signed in script (cock replaced), figured full stock (some old bruising) with moulded drop around the barrel tang, border engraved brass mounts comprising butt-plate decorated with a martial trophy on the heel tang, trigger-guard with pineapple finial and decorated with a flower-head on the bow, brass ramrod-pipes, and later brass-mounted ramrod, London proof marks and large barrelsmith's mark 'IK, probably of Kilmister
