A Cased 13-Bore Pin-Fire Needham's Patent Snap-Action D.B. Sporting Gun
By J.V. Needham, Birmingham, No. 4376, Circa 1865

With browned twist damascus sighted barrels inlaid in gold 'Needham's Patent' on the rib, scroll engraved case-hardened tang and signed border engraved locks, action with circular silver-lined maker's stamp 'Needham' Patent London 628', blued foliate engraved cocking-lever, figured half-stock, chequered grip and detachable fore-end, the latter with horn tip, blued scroll engraved mounts, and vacant silver escutcheon (in refinished condition): in brass-mounted mahogany case refitted and relined in blue velvet with some accessories including Hawksley capping/decapping tool and case-trimmer, the lid (loose, old split) with flush-fitting brass carrying handle and escutcheon engraved with initials 'B.P', Birmingham proof
