An 8-Bore Percussion D.B. Wildfowling Gun
By Hollis & Sheath Of Birmingham, No. 1258 And 3977, Mid-19th Century

With re-browned twist sighted barrels engraved 'London Fine Twist' in gothic letters along the rib, breeches with pairs of white-metal lines and engraved with foliage between (nipples replaced), long foliate scroll engraved tang, border engraved back-action locks signed in gothic script and each decorated with pheasants in a landscape, foliate engraved dolphin hammers (noses chipped), figured half-stock with rechequered grip and fore-end, foliate scroll engraved mounts (butt-plate worn) including trigger-guard with pineapple finial and decorated with pheasants in a landscape on the bow, vacant white-metal escutcheons and two pairs of barrel-bolt escutcheon, and brass-tipped ramrod with steel worm (some wear), Birmingham proof marks
