A Rare Pair Of Russian 38-Bore Flintlock Pistols With German Silver Mounts
Mid-18th Century

With two-stage sighted barrels each turned at the girdle and with ribbed part octagonal breech, plain tangs, rounded locks and cocks, the latter (one top jaw and screw replaced) each engraved with foliage, moulded figured full stocks (some old bruising) each carved in relief with a rocaille behind the barrel tang, carved rounded butts (one with old repaired split), border engraved mounts chased with rocailles and foliage comprising shaped rounded side-plates, butt-caps, and trigger-guards each with pointed finial, turned ramrod-pipes, dark horn fore-end caps, and horn-tipped wooden ramrods (2)
