A Pair Of Italian 22-Bore Roman-Lock Brass-Mounted Belt Pistols
Mid-18th Century

With two-stage barrels each with a turned brass band around the muzzle, turned girdle and octagonal breech, the latter stamped 'LAZARI COMINAZ' along the top flat and with a ramp cut to form a back-sight at the rear, plain tangs, foliate engraved flat bevelled locks, figured moulded full stocks, border engraved brass mounts decorated with foliage and comprising flat side-plates, large escutcheons, spurred rounded pommels (one spur repaired) each with grotesque mask cap (one probably replaced), trigger-guards each with a flower-head on the bow, turned ramrod-pipes, the rear ones each with large finial, steel belt hooks, and brass-tipped ramrods (steel parts with some scattered pitting) (2)
