A Pair Of Small French 50-Bore Flintlock D.B. Pistols
Mid-18th Century

With russet barrels each retaining traces of punched and gilt foliate decoration, border engraved tangs grooved for sighting, border engraved flat bevelled locks each decorated with rocailles on the tail, cocks decorated en suite (two replaced), moulded figured full stocks (some damage and repairs, one fore-end incomplete on one side) each carved with foliage behind the barrel tang and inlaid with silver wire on the butt, border engraved brass mounts comprising spurred pommels each decorated with a rocaille on the cap within sprigs of laurel, trigger-guard with a scallop shell and foliage on the bow, and wooden ramrod (damaged, the other missing) (2)
