A Continental Percussion Blunderbuss With Folding Butt
Early 19th Century, Probably Italian

Converted from flintlock, the russet barrel with a slender brass line around the elliptical muzzle, inlaid over the breech section with brass line decoration centred on a medallion suspended from a ribbon, border engraved tang, border engraved flat bevelled lock decorated with flowering foliage, figured three-quarter stock inlaid with brass wire scrollwork (minor losses), hinged folding butt (old repair at the grip) en suite and with release button centred on an engraved brass mount, border engraved brass mounts in the French manner comprising shaped side-plate decorated with a bird and foliage, butt-plate and trigger-guard with flowering foliage, brass ramrod-pipe and fore-end strap, and original brass-tipped ramrod
