A Miniature Full Armour In German 16th Century Style
19th Century

Of steel, the close-helmet with 'bellows' visor pierced with four small holes, the breast-plate, skirt, and tassets etched with scrolling foliage and each embossed with a line of ropework, the first inhabited by two fantastical birds, full arm defences with fingered gauntlets, full leg defences with pointed round-toed sabatons, and shield etched and roped en suite, with its broadsword, the hilt comprising guard chiselled as a dragon, its wings inlaid with silver, fluted compressed pommel inlaid with lines of silver dots, and writhen openwork grip inlaid in silver between roped borders: on a velvet-covered stand mounted on a wooden plinth
