A Decorative Composite Half-Armour In 17th Century Style

Comprising a comb morion with two-piece skull rising to a comb, tubular plume-holder at the rear, the brim curving up to a point fore and aft and with turned edges, the base of the skull with dome-headed lining rivets; and a breast-plate and tassets, 19th century, the former embossed with scrollwork inhabited by two stags each pursued by a hound centred on an armoured figure holding a bearing sword, and with a grotesque mask at the base, the latter each of shaped outline and embossed with scrollwork and foliage centred respectively on an armoured figure and a bishop, each in a landscape, pierced hinges, and the borders overall with numerous dome-headed rivets (2)
