A German Powder-Flask, And An East European (Carpathian Basin) Powder-Flask
The First Circa 1600, The Second Late 17th Century

The first with cowhorn body of curved flattened triangular form, the front incised with two armoured horsemen, a figure and two hounds in a wooded landscape (worn), and on the other with circular ornament against a cross-hatched ground, all within borders of ropework, russet iron mounts comprising tapering nozzle with sprung tap and cut-off lever, base-plate, and belt hook; the second formed from a forked section of natural staghorn, the front polished and incised with circular geometric ornament and dots, all within wrigglework borders, nozzle with border en suite, and base-plates each with button terminal (2)
